Initially called my Middleton Special, for the infamously fat break in South Australia, the Phoenix Project saw me stripping back a beat-up old longboard and rebuilding it to make a sleek new wave catching machine.
Improvements included a more dynamic outline, refined rail contours along the full length of the board, two new cedar stringers for strength, agave inlay strips on the deck for visual effect, a multi-timber tail block, and a full complement of fin boxes and plugs for maximum versatility.
On-water tests have proven this board to be a real winner, with independent verification from an objective bystander thrown in for good measure.
